MANUFACTURING STARS CELEBRATED AT AWARDS NIGHT
You could feel the excitement in the room. Not only the buzz of anticipation of would-be winners awaiting their announcements but the euphoria of over 200 guests across the private and public sector dressed up, sparkling and all in one room together – the first for quite some time.
The Cornwall Manufacturers Group awards night hosted at Eden with inspiring guest speaker John Evans, Principal of the Cornwall College Group, saw sponsors, apprentices, trainees, business leaders and large and small manufacturing businesses celebrate the industry that contributes over £800m to the Cornish economy.
The night not only raised over £2300 for St Petrocs, Cornwall’s homeless charity, it also witnessed manufacturers offering ideas and additional opportunities to meaningfully support residents experiencing homelessness.
However, the spotlight was on the awards applicants and with the past years extraordinary circumstances, it was all the more poignant to recognise the resilience of manufacturing in Cornwall and the standout companies and individuals who entered the awards.
Jon Hurrell, CEO of CMG said: “Our awards are always very special and this year was no exception with an excelling class of candidates all vying for the podium position. Our award process is tough. Not only do companies and individuals have to put forward a written application, their sites are visited and they have to undertake interviews (albeit more remotely this year). Winning is no small feat and I congratulate them all and thank everyone and all our sponsors for their support.”
