Innovate seafood to reduce food wastage

Ideal Foods Ltd is a family run, Cornish based seafood, trade and export company, selling fish products, to customers is more than 40 different countries.

Sustainability is at the heart of the business core values, with the aim to use all parts of the fish, to reduce food wastage.  

As pioneers in the industry, Ideal Foods led the way in offering fish processors the opportunity to sell all parts of the fish, not just the fillets, creating innovative seafood products and exporting them to different markets around the world.

Salmon heads and other fish by-products are sold to Asia, supplying the large retailers in Vietnam, Thailand the Philippines.  The frames, bellies, trimmings and offcuts are exported to the Ukraine, Poland and Latvia to name but a few.

The safest part of the fish, the fillet is supplied to Europe’s largest baby food manufacturers, with whom Ideal Foods has become a long standing and trusted supplier of fish that meets some of the strictest food safety specifications worldwide.

Three years ago, Ideal Foods launched its own pet food brand, ‘Purely Fish’ with a range of 100% natural treats, canned wet food, toppers and raw food for cats and dogs, all made from fish.  Purely Fish has given Ideal Foods a further market to which it can process any parts of the fish that cannot be used for human consumption.
