Frugi’s New Happy Childhood Fund
Organic, ethical children’s wear company launches on-going initiative to help improve the lives of UK children living in poverty
Applications now open to charities through 8 July 2020.
Frugi, the UK’s leading ethical and organic baby and children’s clothing company, has launched a new Happy Childhood Fund initiative to help improve the lives of vulnerable children living in poverty throughout the UK.
After a tumultuous, disruptive year for so many UK children, this year Frugi is even more determined to help children be children; to help them enjoy their childhood free of stress or struggle and to help them have a chance to learn, grow and flourish.
CEO Hugo Adams says, “I am extremely excited to announce the launch of our Happy Childhood Fund at this precarious time. It goes without saying that many children and families have been put under a lot of strain these past few months. By aligning our goals and combining funds with many other worthwhile charities all over the country, Frugi can make a bigger impact in helping many vulnerable children lead better, happier lives.”
What is the Childhood Fund?
Frugi is embarking on an ambitious funding initiative by joining forces with various UK charities to help alleviate childhood poverty in the UK. Frugi is encouraging all UK registered charities who work with children and communities in any of these three areas to apply for this funding: HUNGER, SHELTER, and NATURE. These pillars represent the core elements of Frugi’s main mission statement. Frugi welcomes grass roots charities, large or small, to apply. Applications will open four times throughout the year and will last for 3 weeks each time. Frugi is encouraging charities to apply from all over the UK and is seeking to fund projects in their entirety, not simply running costs. The Childhood Fund is only open to UK charities and a registered charity number is essential. The maximum funding is £5,000 per project.
Charities can apply through the Survey Monkey form at www.welovefrugi.com/bigchange.

Who are Frugi?
Since Frugi started in Helston, Cornwall, in 2004, the company has consistently donated 1% of turnover to charity every year. More recently through their own Little Clothes BIG Change initiative. Over the past 16 years, and with Frugi becoming a leading organic global children’s clothing company, they have donated an impressive £600,000 to worthy causes. At the end of this financial year in June, Frugi are proudly donating an additional 140,000 to charity for the past year. This amount will be divided and shared amongst their charity partners, including The Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Chance for Childhood and Little Life Savers.
Organic & Recycled Plastic Clothing
Frugi uses ethically sourced GOTS Certified organic cotton to make their range of playful children’s wear for boys and girls up to 10 years old. For babies, Frugi’s soft organic pieces give little ones even more reason to smile; their clothes are made specially to fit over reusable cloth nappies and are chemical free. Frugi’s clothes are brought to life with clever characters that can be found scattered throughout.
Organic cotton is not only better for the environment by emitting 40% less greenhouse gas and using less water, its much softer than conventional cotton because fibres are left intact and not broken down by chemicals. Many parents are switching to organic cotton because it not only triggers fewer allergies, it lasts longer enabling pieces to be handed down through generations.
Frugi’s outerwear of jackets, coats, trousers, and gloves, is made from 100% recycled polyester, or waste plastic bottles, and comes in a colourful range for boys and girls. Each piece is Flurocarbon free and made without harmful chemicals or dyes.
This year Frugi has impressed the royal circuit. They swooped up not one, but two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, the most prestigious honour for UK businesses, recognising and encouraging outstanding achievement.
