Grant Williams

Grant Facilitation Project Officer

Throughout my career I have enjoyed watching local businesses grow and become successful and it is a privilege to be able help them along the way.

I was born in Cornwall and so am proud to be a Grant Facilitator Project Officer at the Growth Hub.

In my previous role at Outset Cornwall, I worked supporting many start-ups and in that time saw more than 180 businesses secure funding to help them flourish.

Before this, I worked with Unlocking Potential helping with grant administration and funding needs.

In my spare time I can be found walking my two dachshunds Mickey and Minnie out in the Cornish countryside with my partner and stepchildren.

A few years ago, I completed the London Marathon to raise much-needed funds for Cornwall Hospice Care and am now quietly considering training for another one.

If I could give start-ups one piece of advice I would say follow your instincts and trust your gut.

The local business that I salute is the family-run Philps because they are a Cornish brand who make a quality product. I do enjoy their traditional medium pasties.

The most useful training course I've been on was an eight-week course run by Unlocking Potential called Stand Out From the Crowd. I attended it after I graduated with a BA (Hons) Business Enterprise Management at University of Plymouth. It helped to sharpen my empathy skills and learn more about myself.
